SCHOOL DAY OF PEACE AND NON-VIOLENCE 2017

          The School Day of Non-violence and Peace was founded by the Spanish poet Llorenç Vidal Vidal in Majorca in 1964 for a Pacifying and Non-Violent Education.
         It's celebrated on January 30th every year, on the Anniversary of the death of Mahatma Gandhi.

We can be peacemakers! By: Kindergarten Students

The Peacemaker Song :This is a great and fun sing-along for children of all ages to learn about getting along and being peacemakers at school, in the classroom, and on the playground. 

                                                                      

                                                              

   Bucket fillers' are those who help without being asked, give hugs and      compliments and generally spread their love and good feelings to others.                            There have been numerous studies which demonstrate the positive effects of kindness on health and well-being.                                                                              

           The kindness giver, receiver and even those observing the kind act immediately experience an increase in happiness, a blissful sense of euphoria, increase in energy, more optimism and a general feeling of being healthy .                                             

        Children who learn about compassion, respect, empathy and how to express acts of kindness in both words and actions, can have a positive impact on the world they live in.                                                                                                             

         It is proven that young children raised to understand the value of kindness are less likely to bully or even become violent.                                                                     

 Remember you can make a difference each time you       brighten someone's  life  through small efforts like a         smile, kind word, saying thank you or showing you care.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN      - 25th NOVEMBER -

•             Violence against women and girls is a global  issue.  It remains one  of the most persistent human  rights violations and a threat to millions of girls and women.    
•                 Violence against women and girls knows no social, economic or national boundaries.
•                  It affects women of all ages and arises in various types of settings – taking many forms including physical, sexual or psychological violence, as well as economic abuse and exploitation.     
•                  At least one out of every three women worldwide has been beaten, coerced into sex or emotionally abused in her lifetime, most often by a partner.
• Violence against women continues to be a global                                  pandemic!!

              What happens when you put a boy in front of a girl and ask him  to slap her? 
Here is how children react to the subject of violence against women.

            What really impressed me is  the one who said  "Because I am man." He didn't say he didn't hit her because she's a girl, he said he didn't hit her because he's a man. 
I took that as him saying that men don't hit.  
That's how I saw it, anyway.
